| 1. Who is eligible? As from 12 years old. Note: For minor, the parents will be the responsible party.
2. What cost involved? ONLY an initial purchase fee (One off) and the card validity, 2 years. There will also be a charge for card personalization, replacement lost/stolen and damaged. (Refer to Fees and Charges)
3. Where can I use the card? Card usage for BUS travel and at specific merchants where the Etoile Card logo and POS is displayed.
4. What is the difference with a Debit card in the Mauritian market? - More secure as card limit is set to Rs2,000 and not linked to your bank account. - Provide access to market sector that is not accessible with debit card for micro purchases (e.g bus, small vendors etc). - Contactless card – Touch and Go, No PIN or Signature.
5. What is the difference with a Bank card in the Mauritian market?
- No credit checks required.
- No need for an account.
- No additional charges such as late charge, interest, overlimit fee.
- No credit liability, spend what you have.
- Accessible to Minor, as from 12 years old (responsible party remains parent).
- More secure as card limit is set to Rs2,000.
- Provide access to market sector that is not accessible with Bank card for micro purchases (e.g bus, small vendors etc).
- Contactless card – touch and go, No PIN or Signature.
6. How to get an Etoile card?
- Etoile card can be easily obtained without any credit check
- The card can be purchased at our partners for an initial fee (One off, Refer to fees & charges, in our website http://etoile.mu/) and is valid for two years.
- When purchasing Etoile card customer SIMPLY need to fill in the application form.
7. How to use and Top Up Etoile Card?
- The card has a limit of Rs 2,000
- Customer makes cash payment (Top up) on card at one of our partners.
- Funds immediately accessible on the card, no charges claimed to customer.
- Customer uses card at merchant's displaying Etoile logo and bus fare.
- The amount deposited can be higher than Rs2,000 but the maximum transaction amount is Rs2,000.

9. What happen if I lose my card? Contact our Hotline immediately (230) 464 4646. You are liable for any transaction effected prior to reporting.
10. What happens when the card expired? Need to purchase a new one.
11. Top Up Online
11.1 What is Etoile Top Up Service? Etoile Top Up service enables Etoile customers to recharge their Etoile card by multiples of Rs100 up to Rs2,000 from their Visa or MasterCard Bank Cards, free of Charge from Etoile.
11.2 What do I need to Top Up My Etoile Card? You just need three basic things: - Your Etoile Card Number. - A working Bank Card. - A working Internet Connection.
11.3 How do I Top Up my Etoile Card? 1. Go to etoile.mu homepage. 2. On the Top Menu, Select Top-Up drop down and click on Top Up my Etoile Card. 3. The Top Up application will appear. Fill in the necessary details and click on the Top Up button. 4. Fill in your Bank card transaction from the secure connection webpage and approve transaction. 5. Your Top up will be processed by the next working day and you will receive a notification of its success by mail, call or sms. 6. Perform an Online transaction at any Top Up locations to update the amount on your card. See the nearest Top Up location.
11.4 Why can my Top Up Application fail before submission? You may have wrongly input Top details as required by the Web application. An error message will appear when you click on Top Up in this situation. Please follow the error message advice carefully.
11.5 Why can my Etoile Top Up Application fail even after a successful submission? The following reasons may lead to the failure of an Etoile Top Up application: - Your Etoile Card will expire soon. - Your Bank Card transaction was not approved by your bank. - The information about your Etoile Card was inexact.
11.6 Does Etoile Top up by internet Charge any additional transaction fees? No fees are applied by Etoile. Bank card transaction however can be subject to fees from bank.
11.7 What will be the final amount transferred onto my Etoile Card? The final amount on your Etoile card will be the one you selected within your Top up application.
11.8 How will I know my Etoile account has been top up? You will receive an email informing you that the top up was successful.
11.9 Once I have had confirmation of my Top up, is it over? No, the balance on your card will not be updated as long as you do not perform an online transaction. You will need to perform an online request, at any Top Up locations.
11.10 Why am I requested my mobile phone number? Your mobile phone number may be used in case of discrepancies in your details or failure to Top Up to keep you posted of the proceedings.
11.11 Will the requested details be used for any other use than for Topping up my Etoile card? Only your mail may be updated to our mail list if you had no other mail previously. Our mail list will be used to the sole intent of increasing value delivered to you through Customer Feedback Surveys and New Etoile updates and offers.
11.12 How is Etoile Internet Top Up different from Etoile Merchant Top Up? With Internet Top Up you do not have to move to Physical Top Up locations. You can top up your Etoile card from home provided you have what you need.
11.13 How do I take care of my Etoile card? - Keep it in its wallet - Keep your Etoile card separate from other credit/debit cards - Do not bend the card |
